Set of 6 Bowls SPODE Tower Copeland ENGLAND Soup Bowl Transferware c 1930's

Rare Set of Six rimmed soup bowls in the pink SPODE'S TOWER pattern, made by Copeland from 1920ies to the 1950ies (first introduced in 1814).
The surface is shiny and bright, the transfer pattern is in a rich cranberry red / pink color, depicting the Bridge of Salerno in the center, surrounded by a floral border and a Gadrooned edge.
Each plate / bowl measures 9 1/4 inches in diameter and is 1 1/2 inches tall. They are in ecxellent condition. There are no cracks, chips, crazing or staining .

Each plate is marked with the older red stamp:
Copeland - Spode's Tower - England and an impressed Copeland Spode Imperial, as well as an impressed date stamp, that I believe says D 30
This rare set would make a great addition to your pink / red transferware collection or dinner table.


W.T. Copeland & Sons Ltd. Company of Staffordshire England (which purchased the Spode factory in 1833.) The outer edge of the platter is godrooned or roped. The platter is decorated with a red transfer ware pattern, which is called Spode's Tower. This pattern was derived from the printed illustration in Merigot's "View of Rome and it's Vicinity," which was published circa 1796. The pattern shows the Bridge of Salaro near Porta Salara, Rome. The beautiful scene is surrounded with a border of stylized flowers. The pattern completely covers the interior of the platter.
The platter is marked on the bottom "Copeland Spode's Tower England in red. It is also impressed with what looks like "D 30".

Bowls are IN EXCELLENT CONDITION!
